Welcome to our new Frame spotlight series, where we highlight exciting and novel Farcaster Frames powered by 0x. In this post, we’ll learn how Paycaster enables Farcaster users to swap and send tokens directly within their social feed, powered by 0x Swap API.
What is Paycaster?
Paycaster offers the core building blocks to swap, send, and receive token payments on Farcaster - the fastest growing sufficiently decentralized social network built on Ethereum. Users can easily call the functions to either pay others or swap tokens by tagging @swapbot and @paybot directly in the social feed.
What inspired Paycaster?
The founders of Paycaster, Richard and Rob, both wanted to work on a DeFi product. Rob had been active on Farcaster for some time and it seemed like a promising new platform that offered new opportunities to startups. As minting directly in the social feed became more prolific, it also became obvious to them that a native flow for payments and swaps directly in the social feed would be useful for users.
On the day Farcaster launched transaction frames, Paycaster launched Paybot, followed more recently by Swapbot, which relies on 0x Swap API to handle swaps directly in the Farcaster social feed.
What sets Paycaster apart?
Both Paybot and Swapbot have been developed with the mindset of creating the best experience for users on Farcaster instead of trying to push them to external applications.
Swapbot offers an easy way to swap tokens directly in the Farcaster feed. This is useful for users who are part of communities that have a token and want to be able to buy them directly without having to leave the app. Swaps are powered by 0x.
Paybot enables users to make payments directly in the Farcaster feed. This is beneficial to users who want to pay other users on the platform for products, services, raffles, bounties, giveaways, and tipping.
Shout-out to the Neynar team for building great Farcaster developer tools and the frames.js team for building a great framework for Frames.
